Back to All Events
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19, for this edition of Docu-Sunday, OFX partner River Lunsford hosts I Am Not Your Negro (2016), an exploration of institutional racism and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s through the unfinished manuscript Remember This House by James Baldwin. This film by documentarian Raoul Peck reimagines the narrative of institutional racism in the US through Baldwin’s writings and our cultural understanding of popular media depictions of Black identity, a poetic splicing of “history” and “current events” to provoke our ideas of progress and resistance.
