OFX is excited to announce our ongoing partnership with The Human Lens, starting with our monthly documentary screenings. The Human Lens is a new initiative by local filmmaker Jordan Martin that aims to create, support, and champion human-made, human-focused storytelling, enabling audiences to channel radical empathy and see the world through a human lens.

The Human Lens presents Close-Up, an Iranian docu-drama about a man who impersonated a filmmaker and his subsequent trial. Director Abbas Kiarostami received permission to film the trial as it happened, and then recreated the dramatized events with the real-life people involved. Kiarostami perhaps embodies the spirit of The Human Lens in its most literal terms, as he blurs the line between documentary and reconstruction in cinema-verite style, and allows us to look into Iranian culture and society through his eyes.
